The 'Future Five: Rookies Documentary' is here!
- Savannah Lenz
Five new rookies are officially joining the 2025 Formula 1 grid, and with that comes a new documentary surrounding them. The recently released documentary follows Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Jack Doohan, Oliver Bearman, Isack Hadjar and Gabriel Bortoleto.
The Formula 1 documentary is 49 minutes long and is described as "All the young drivers stepping up to the sport have impressive junior careers behind them - but Formula 1 is the toughest prospect any of them will ever have faced. Meet the rookies who join the grid this year."
Rookies
All five of the rookies have worked very hard to get to Formula 1, making their way up through the many feeder series and coping with the financial costs amounts of their journey to the pinnacle of motorsport.
Bearman, a part of the Ferrari Drivers Academy, drove three Grand Prix during the 2024 season, while at the same time fulfilling his Formula 2 duties at Prema Racing. Bortoleto and Hadjar were vying for the Formula 2 championship until the season finale in Abu Dhabi, where the Brazilian clinched the title on his rookie year.
Antonelli, the highly regarded Mercedes talent, who many have dubbed 'the next Max Verstappen', will confirm or disprove the comparison this year when he makes his debut for the German team.
Jack Doohan, having made his F1 debut in Abu Dhabi last year, has seen his seat at Alpine brought to question by experts, with speculation around the French team's reserve, Franco Colapinto, appointing him as the Australian's early replacement should Doohan not live up to the team's expectations.
Their journeys to F1 may not define their future in the series, but the documentary will surely provide a more in-depth take on their careers so far, helping audiences understand what it takes to make it to the fastest, toughest and most competitive formula racing series on the planet.
A new generation has arrived.
