After ending the 2024 Formula 1 season on a high note, Lando Norris is ready to start the 2025 season. In an interview with McLaren, the Britsh driver detailed what he has done to prepare himself to hopefully take home the drivers' championship this year.
Norris ended the 2024 F1 season in second place, just behind Max Verstappen. This year, he is hoping for more. McLaren was able to beat out both Ferrari and Red Bull Racing for their first constructors' championship in 26 years.
'Excited to get back'
Norris 'feels good' after his time during the winter break. But as far as relaxing, he admits he did not do much of it. “It’s been a good winter, probably one of the busiest I've had in terms of training and preparation. I feel like it's been utilised well, and more efficiently than last year, so I'm happy about that. If anything, I’m just more excited to get back going again."
He continued, “I’m back in the car, and it feels good. Obviously, this isn’t our race car for the year, so this isn’t as exciting as when I will jump into this year’s car, but it’s always nice to get back in the car and get that feeling of being behind the wheel again." The new season will kick off with the pre-season testing in Bahrain.
All the teams will be driving their 2025 F1 cars, which Norris is looking forward too. "But this has got nothing on getting back into the race car for the year and going to the first race.”
“I’ve done many different things, in many different countries, just making sure, in every aspect, that I can be more prepared than last year,”
As far as what lies on the horizon for the McLaren driver, Norris says it's "more training – getting back to the factory for a lot of simulator time and just getting back to work.”
