Sauber watch out! Stake to shut down UK operations per government mandate

The UK's Gambling Commission has mandated the shut down of Stake's UK website, following a controversial video which displayed the brand's logo, this puts Sauber in a rather uncomfortable position since the gambling company is the team's title sponsor.

"Consumers are being advised that Stake.uk.com will no longer be a licensed website from next month. TGP Europe Limited (TGP), who operate the site as part of a white-label arrangement, have stated they will be shutting the site," reads a statement on the Gambling Commission's website.

An adult video posted to social media channels featuring a pornstar outside Nottingham Trent University, triggered an investigation into Stake's operations in the UK leading to the gambling company's cease of operations in the UK with a deadline of 11 of March, 2025.

Sauber F1 team will be hit by the mandate

The UK's Gambling Commission has stated it will reach out to English Football club Everton, along with two other teams to warn them "of the risks of promoting unlawful gambling websites," this, of course puts Sauber in a compromised position, since Stake is the team's title sponsor and with the 75th anniversary of F1 which will hold all the teams' 2025 livery reveals it gives them very little time to maneuver.

The Gambling Commission issues a stern warning to UK Football clubs should they not heed the organism's mandate and warns that the may be "liable to prosecution and, if convicted, face a fine, imprisonment or both if they promote unlicensed gambling businesses that transact with consumers in Great Britain," reads the statement.
