Every Formula 1 enthusiast probably looks back on it with glee: the epic 2021 season was enmarked by a titanic battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, which went to the very last Grand Prix of the Championship, and was decided by the Dutchman on the last lap of the race with a daring maneuver on the inside that sealed his first World Title.

Since then, Hamilton has failed to play a significant role in the Title races the past three years, mainly because his Mercedes cars were not quick enough to compete with Verstappen's Red Bull cars. But perhaps the battle between the old rivals will flare up again next season, as Verstappen vies for his fifth Championship on the trot and Hamilton tries to clinch that coveted and elusive eighth title with his new employer, Ferrari.

Verstappen on Hamilton's title chances

Verstappen has witnessed the hype surrounding Hamilton and Ferrari's association. Whether that can result in the Verstappen vs Hamilton fight many fans hope for, Verstappen said: "It all depends on the car. We all know how good Lewis is. There's no debate on that. It all depends on the car," said Verstappen to GPblog and other select media in London on Tuesday.

Should it indeed come to a fight between the two champions, Verstappen looks forward to it: "Yes, but that's with anyone. When you're fighting for wins, that's always really nice," Verstappen concluded.
