Formula 1 testing gets underway tomorrow, with all 10 teams preparing to put their 2025 challengers through their pacers before the season officially begins in Melbourne on March 14-16. This testing at the Bahrain International Circuit acts as an extremely important launch pad for teams and drivers to get off the ground and adjust to their respective team's adjustments and improvements. Williams team principal, James Vowles, gave some brutally honest insight into testing at the F1 75 live event in London last week.

'No one will walk away with confidence'

Speaking to GPblog and other media, Vowles revealed: "So the facts behind it, I don't think anyone will walk away from Bahrain with confidence. And that's great. That's what we want in the sport. I can't predict who's going to win the championship or how the midfield will shake out. That's what I want out of the sport. Um, obviously what we've done so far is just a shakedown in Silverstone and, and you can't really tell anything from that."

Williams comes into testing with bundles of hope for the 2025 season. Proven race-winning driver Carlos Sainz has joined the British team after a four-season spell at Ferrari. Alongside Alex Albon, Sainz, Williams and Vowles will be hoping to move up the order in a crucial year before the 2026 regulation changes.

When will eager fans be able to work out the order for the upcoming season? Vowles believes that they may have to wait until competitive running begins to see the team's true pace. "It's us by ourselves apart from the car behaving sensibly and was reliable and left the garage on the minute we wanted it to. So I think, and I'm afraid, it's not till qualifying in Melbourne that anyone will know where the order is." Vowles concluded.
