The 2025 Formula 1 season is upon us, with winter testing in Bahrain starting on Wednesday to kick off the new campaign. All teams and drivers will descend to the desert to test their brand-new cars for what could be an enthralling year in the pinnacle of motorsport, with many wondering who will be the fastest this early on. For Red Bull Racing and their drivers Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson, they have already driven their first few metres in their new RB21.

Red Bull shares video of Verstappen shakedown

Each team is allowed to do a shakedown before the pre-season test around the Bahrain International Circuit, with Red Bull choosing to do it on the day before testing is due to take place. As a result, Verstappen and brand-new teammate Lawson had their first taste of driving the new RB21 on Tuesday.

How will Red Bull fare in 2025?

Verstappen himself did not want to say anything about goals for the upcoming season after his first run in the RB21. The Dutchman stated that he did not really have an idea yet how competitive the car was. However, he did say that they at the team know where the limitations of last year's car lay and that they will see if they have improved in the coming days.

Over the next few days, Verstappen may get more clarity on exactly where the car will be this year. Despite the fact that the times driven during the winter test often say nothing, the driver can get a feel for whether he is comfortable in the new car. The Dutchman can also take a preliminary look at the other teams.
