Liam Lawson set for pit lane start Australian GP
Today at 03:20

After a challenging weekend so far, Liam Lawson is set for a pit lane start at the Grand Prix closest to his home country.

Liam Lawson finished in P18 in qualifying, after making multiple mistakes of going wide in Q1. He also had to miss most of FP3 already the day before, because of an issue with his power unit.

Now, he will not be on the grid, after the FIA reported a change to car number 30 ahead of the Grand Prix. The New Zealander will have a new rear wing and beam wing on his car this session, with different specifications. That is possibly for helping the youngster more in the rain.

What does this mean for the grid?

Together with Oliver Bearman, Lawson will therefore start from the pit lane. Lawson's F1 debut took place in the rain in Zandvoort back in 2023, and he has to impress the team again in similar conditions.
