Isack Hadjar did not have the best of the starts to his Formula 1 career in Australia. He is yet to compete a Grand Prix lap in the competition, after he crashed out on the formation lap in Melbourne.

The rookie was visibly very disappointed with the result, and Lewis Hamilton's father consoled him in the paddock as well. Helmut Marko however responded in a different way.

Speaking to the Austrian public broadcaster, ORF, the top advisor called Hadjar's reaction "a bit painful". Former F1 driver, Ralf Schumacher believes the Austrian should not have been that harsh, he explained in the Sky Sports Germany's Boxengasse podcast. "Everyone is different. The pressure on this young driver is so great," the German began.

"I understand he is disappointed, everyone deals with that differently. I wouldn't have cried myself either, I would have been angry with myself. But everyone has to be able to let their emotions go. Dr Marko often has a hard way about him, which is just not necessary. I don't believe he means it that way either. He expresses that, but it hasn't filtered down yet," he added.

'Hadjar not the only one'

According to Schumacher, Hadjar's reaction might have been such because of the pressure on his shoulders to perform, because of the standards set by Marko. He also pointed out that it was not only the Racing Bulls driver that ended up in the barrier that day.

"Carlos Sainz could also have burst into tears. That was also a bit painful. I mean, it happened to him too. David Coulthard also had it happen to him. Other drivers have had it. A moment of heedlessness," he concluded.
