These records may be broken at the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix

This weekend the second round of the Formula One 2025 season will get underway at the Shanghai International Circuit, the Chinese Grand Prix, and for Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen it may be a record-breaking weekend.

Many milestones and records up for grabs for the top teams in China

Should Andrea Kimi Antonelli take pole this Saturday he will be the youngest ever polesitter F1 has ever seen. Should the Italian rookie win the race, stand on the podium or achieve the fastest lap, he'll also be the youngest driver to ever achieve either of those three feats in Formula One.

Furthermore, the race weekend in China may also see Mercedes reach a milestone that only three other teams before them have: 300 podium finishes in F1. Not entirely out of the question, since the German team managed to score a 3-4 led by George Russell in Australia last time out, with Antonelli coming home in P4 after having started way down in the order in P16. However should they score a double podium they will pip Ferrari's 13 podiums finish record in China, as the Germans currently sit at 12.

Max Verstappen comes into the Chinese Grand Prix on the backfoot, as Red Bull Racing's RB21 is not yet up to par with McLaren's MCL39. However, should any opportunities come his way, the Dutchman may break a record or two this weekend in Shanghai. For instance, should he win from 5th, 8th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 18th, 19th or 20th on the grid, he would be the first-ever driver to triumph from eleven different grid positions.

Should Verstappen take the victory leading every lap, he will equal Sebastian Vettel's 14 start-to-finish race wins, for third spot on the all-time list. Should he achieve a grand chelem, the Dutchman will match Lewis Hamilton's tally of 6, for second place on an illustrious list, traling only Jim Clark who has 8 total.

For Red Bull Racing it may also be a weekend to remember, as the Austrian outfit is only one fastest lap away from tying Ferrari's record of 17 consecutive seasons achieving at least one fastest lap in F1. Should one of its drivers stand on the top step of the podium on Sunday, Red Bull will have then been the fifth team in history to win races for ten seasons on the trot.

For McLaren, should the papaya team finish with a 1-2 in the Grand Prix, they will become the third team to reach fifty 1-2 finishes in F1, after Ferrari and Mercedes. Should they lock out the front row as they have done in the last round of the 2024 season, and last week in Australia, the Woking-based team will ty its previous front row lockout streak of three in a row, achieved in 2007, when Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton raced for the British team.

Should Ferrari win the Chinese Grand Prix, they would extend their record of 59 seasons scoring race victories, to 60. For Charles Leclerc a milestone is within reach as well if he scores ten or more points across the weekend, as this feat would see him surpass Sebastian Vettel's tally of 1,400 points scored placing him as the highest scoring driver for the Scuderia, with the Monegasque currently sitting at 1,391.

Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are tied for most top ten finishes at the Chinese Grand Prix, with 13 a piece. Both drivers could extend their mark should they score points this Sunday, but one could pip the other if the other fails to do so.
