McLaren the only top team with an update for the Chinese Grand Prix

Ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, it has become clear that McLaren have already brought another update, meaning the British team are the only the only top team to present a new component to the grid for the Chinese Grand Prix.

After the huge list presented by FIA for the opening race of the season at the Australian Grand Prix, only a few teams now have updates for the Grand Prix weekend in Shanghai, the first sprint weekend of 2025. For McLaren, the update they bring is a 'New Rear Brake Duct Winglet'. According to the description, this should ensure that the car generates more downforce.

What updates do F1 teams have in China?

McLaren are the only one of the leading teams to have a new update in Shanghai, and there are only three other teams with at least one new part. That may not come as too much of a surprise, of course, as a week ago, the first race in Australia saw all the teams want their brand-new cars finished. A week later, it is not often that an update is immediately ready.

Racing Bulls, Williams and Sauber each bring a new part, with the latter being the only team that has a serious update for this weekend. The Swiss team have modified the engine cover of its car to improve the downforce.

For Racing Bulls and Williams, they have brought parts specific to the Shanghai International circuit. For example, RB has brought a specific front wing and beam wing, while Williams is also bringing a unique beam wing for this race in China.
