Horner on 'weekly FIA TD's': 'Don't know what effect it'll have'
F1 News

The FIA issued a technical directive following the Australian Grand Prix reducing the rear wing's flexibility limit under load, from 2mm, to 0,5mm with a leeway of 0,25mm given the short notice the directive was brought about to the teams. Red Bull Racing's team principal, Christian Horner, has had his say on the 'weekly TD's' in China.
During the FIA's team principal's press conference ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, Horner was asked for his take on the recent technical directive. "It's their [the FIA's] job obviously to police these things," said the Briton to media present.
"They obviously saw things that they weren't particularly happy with at the last race, so therefore, as is their prerogative, they've tightened up those regulations through a TD that came out this week," added Horner. While many speculate McLaren was the team the TD was aimed at, current championship leader and papaya driver, Lando Norris, was adamant his team would not have to change their rear wing and that the directive was targetting other teams.
'FIA's Technical directives come every week'
When a technical directive is implemented, almost always a change in the performance hierarchy follows, something the Briton knows full well, however he does not dare make a prediction. "Now, what effect it has up and down the grid, I really don't know." Before concluding that now technical directives have become a constant in Formula One. "But that's just part and parcel of Formula 1. TD's are almost forthcoming on a weekly basis," said Horner.
