Liam Lawson has been knoeck out in the first part of aqualifying session for the second time in a row. While his teammate, four-time world champion Max Verstappen brought his car up to P2 next to Lewis Hamilton in P1, the New Zealander's efforts came up short as he could only managed a lowly P20 in the RB21.

Lawson frustrated with SQ1 exit

Lawson was asked where things went wrong during qualifying. "I went off on my second lap. Obviously a shame. From a starting point it wasn’t too bad. The first lap was alright and we were looking to build from there. We stayed out to try and cool the tyres and I really struggled to get the temperatures down. We started too hot and through the lap I struggled. It’s frustrating."

"It's obviously the small things. It's really a shame because honestly we started okay in qualifying. The first lap wasn't amazing, but it was relatively okay. So it's just shame to be out because of something so frustrating," Lawson concluded.

With the event in China being a sprint weekend, the New Zealander will get another chance after the sprint race to try and see the out the entirety of a qualifying session in his Red Bull Racing car this season.
