Lawson knows what his future at Red Bull looks like 'I'm not stupid'

After two race weekends and three races (two features and one sprint), Liam Lawson has yet to score points for Red Bull. A pitlane start for the Chinese Grand Prix did not help his chances either. Max Verstappen's new teammate looks back at his performance in the Chinese Grand Prix and is aware of the pressure that's now on his shoulders.
Lawson said, "It was going to be tough starting from the pit lane and we know dirt is here and tyres is always going to be a bit of a battle. We knew it was going to be tough, but we started from the pit lane to try something with the car, and it unfortunately just didn't work the way we wanted it to. It was really just a hard weekend. It was just a bit harder today."
Despite a lack of race results, Lawson says he is noticing some improvements. When asked if he is learning about the RB21, he said, "Yeah, for sure. Today some of those questions were answered. It's the way it is right now. Unfortunately, I don't really have time to test it and get used to it, but I need to figure it out as quickly as I can."
Heavy criticism of Lawson
Lawson himself knows that if he does not provide the results, Red Bull will take matters into their own hands and that thought weighs heavy on Lawson. "Yeah, it's obviously extremely tough. It's not something I'm enjoying, but I'm honestly working as hard as I can to get on top of it."
"I don't think that matters, honestly. I need to be fast in this car," he answered when asked about whether he'd be faster driving a Racing Bulls car.
"It's more.., as in we're in the season, I don't have time to test the car and get used to it, but we're in the season really, so each race we're losing points. That's more or less what I mean when I don't have time. But I'm also not stupid and I know that obviously I'm here to perform and if I'm not doing that, I’m not going to be around. I'm just focused on getting used to the car as quickly as I can."
