Marko: "When others weaken, we are there"
Helmut Marko has emphasised the importance of Max Verstappen's win at the Austrian Grand Prix, suggesting it is a sign that the Honda-Red Bull partnership is something to stick by and insisted Red Bull are ready to take advantage of any slip-ups.
Verstappen won his and Red Bull's first race since the Dutchman won the Mexican Grand Prix when he stormed to victory at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend. He recovered from a terrible opening lap to win the race at the Red Bull Ring after overtaking Charles Leclerc on lap 69.
The victory was the first by a Honda-powered car for 13 years and Marko believes it is a sign that if other teams drop off in form Red Bull will be ready to take advantage. Marko told AutoBild: "The first time they used the more aggressive engine software, it was a big step for us. But there will be another with the next engine update at Monza.
"We are also progressing on the chassis at every race, so I can now say with certainty that when others weaken, we are there.
"Sunday's victory was an important milestone, Max knows what he has at home and with Honda, and Honda people have shown what they can do on the Red Bull Ring."
