Bottas struggled to find "confidence" in Mercedes car during qualifying
With the two Ferraris stuck in the garage, Valtteri Bottas had a great opportunity to get onto the front row but it wasn't to be after Max Verstappen put in a strong lap. Bottas will start the German Grand Prix from third place after struggling to find confidence.
"It's going to be a long race and the weather will play a part. I was really disappointed, I didn't really find similar confidence that I did in practice especially under braking. I just struggled and I need to check everything is alright," Bottas said.
Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc were the two favourites going into qualifying. Bottas believed it would have been difficult to beat them.
"Ferrari has been extremely quick and we knew coming in it would be difficult to beat them in qualifying. We don't know what their issue was. I'll try to come up from third place," Bottas added.
