Kvyat dubs unbelievable podium as "a rollercoaster, just like my career"

The day after he became a father, Daniil Kvyat secured an extremely unlikely podium finish for Toro Rosso, as the Russian describes his race as "a rollercoaster, just like my career".
The Russian started the race from P14 but was very opportunistic with the Safety Cars, of which there were many during the chaotic German Grand Prix, pitting at the right time as well as overtaking on track when needed.
Crucially, Kvyat overtook Lance Stroll for P2 in the final stages of the race and got some separation, driving away while the Canadian slowed down the charging Sebastian Vettel. In the penultimate lap, however, Kvyat did have to concede to the much quicker Sebastian Vettel, but he got his podium finish nonetheless, his first since China 2016.
"It's amazing to be back on the podium," he told Martin Brundle after the race.
"After so many years with Toro Rosso, it's great to bring a podium to the team.
"The race was crazy and finally I managed to put everything together to get this podium. I'm really happy. The race was a horror movie mixed with black comedy. I thought the race was done for me but it came alive again.
"It was a rollercoaster, a bit like my whole career."
A bit of humour at the end there from Kvyat, who then revealed he became a father yesterday. What a weekend for the Russian!
