Mixed feeling for Alex Albon following Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying
Alex Albon has admitted his car was capable of reaching Q3 but something was missing as he qualified twelfth for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Both Toro Rosso drivers exited qualifying at the second stage as Daniil Kvyat and Alex Albon were brought back down to earth after their excellent results at the German Grand Prix. Albon finished sixth at the Hockenheimring but will start twelfth for the race in Hungary whilst Kvyat is one place back in 13th after his podium in Germany.
Albon admitted there was potential for the team to make Q3 but expressed his satisfaction with the qualifying result.
“I’m pretty satisfied with P12 after a tough FP2 after the crash. The car had the potential to reach Q3, but we were always just missing something which was a bit frustrating," Albon said on the Toro Rosso website.
"Reaching Q3 would have been nice, but we were two tenths from getting through, the balance was good in some corners and in other places it wasn’t."
With limited places for overtaking at the Hungaroring, Albon felt strategy would be key if they're to make progress come lights out.
"Track position is key around here as there isn’t many places to overtake, so we’ll need to think of a good strategy for tomorrow," he added,
