Otmar Szafnauer pays tribute to Anthoine Hubert
Otmar Szafnauer has been paying tribute to Anthoine Hubert who sadly passed away after a crash during Saturday's Formula 2 race at Spa in Belgium.
Hubert was confirmed dead earlier this evening after a crash between him and Juan Manuel Correa. Upon entering the Eau Rouge, Hubert hit, at high speed the tire stack he was then hit by the oncoming car of Sauber-junior F2 driver Juan Manuel Correa, at the exit of the Raidillon bend.
Hubert was a two-time F2 race winner this season and was apart of the Renault driver academy. Szafnauer has been paying tribute to the young French driver.
“It’s almost impossible to find the right words at moments like these, but we are all devastated to hear the tragic news from today’s Formula 2 race," Szafnauer said in a statement.
“Anthoine was a wonderful person and a tremendous racing talent who had already enjoyed great success in the sport. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and supporters.”
