Breaking: Anthoine Hubert killed in Formula 2 crash
The FIA have confirmed that Anthoine Hubert has died following the devastating crash in the Formula 2 race on Saturday.
The FIA confirmed the news everybody feared, announcing he died at 18:35 local time as a result of his injuries. Juan Manuel Correa was the other driver involved in the incident and he is in a stable condition in hopital.
The incident happened on lap two of the F2 race on Saturday when both drivers collided, slamming into the barriers. Upon entering the Eau Rouge, Hubert hit, at high speed the tire stack he was then hit by the oncoming car of Sauber-junior F2 driver Juan Manuel Correa, at the exit of the Raidillon bend.
Hubert was a former GP3 champion and had won two races already in this season's Formula 2 series.
