Toto Wolff says Belgian Grand Prix was "damage limitation" for Mercedes
Toto Wolff is pleased with Mercedes results from the Belgian Grand Prix but knows that Ferrari were the faster car throughout the weekend. The Mercedes boss described the race as "damage limitation" and will hope that they don't have the same issues in Monza next weekend.
"For us, it was really not a good track. We were lacking the speed in a straight line so it was damage limitation so we have to be very very happy with it," Wolff said to Sky Sports.
You can see the straight-line speed with DRS and we are only 5kph faster and that is not enough to overtake."
When asked about the tragic events of the weekend Wolff said:
"We are torn because we are wanting to look at the race but obviously a driver has lost his life and that is overshadowing everything. We should remember him and we should be glad that Charles Leclerc won the race as they were close."
