Max Verstappen shows maturity after crash: "These things happen"
Max Verstappen made contact with Kimi Raikkonen at the first corner of the Belgian Grand Prix which damaged his car and led to him crashing out and retiring from the race. The Red Bull driver had a slow start and hoped to make up some places by braking later than everyone else but Raikkonen hadn't seen him and they therefore crashed.
"I had a bad start," said Verstappen to Sky Sports. "I don't even know why! We'll look into it. I braked maybe just a little bit later than the two cars ahead of me but for me it was ok.
"I guess Kimi didn't expect me to be there so he just did his normal line and then we touched.
"It's racing and these things happen."
Not only has the Dutchman shown maturity in the way that he has driven but also in the way he has handled this incident. Every race since Hungary last season Verstappen has finished in the top 5.
He will hope to get back to these impressive results in Monza next weekend.
