Ricciardo reluctant to tinker with weekend format: "The timing is not right"

Renaults' Daniel Ricciardo feels that the regulatory changes being brought in, in 2021. There are plans to change the current weekend format, including some to how qualifying works. Ricciardo currently sits in 9th place in the championship, eight points behind Alex Albon.
“I think this is not the right time. I think it will all change in 2021, so I see no reason to change the format. It would oppose the sport and be a desperate move, precisely when it is not necessary, " Ricciardo said.
The Aussie had a mixed first day in Russia, finishing up in 8th in FP1 before finishing a little bit further back in 14th in FP2, as he looks to improve on last weekend's 14th place finish in Singapore.
Ricciardo referenced UFC in an example in this situation: “It has changed there too and despite the fact that I like to watch, there are all sorts of fights every weekend now. Although it is nice for the fans, you can lose your interest if constant fights are shown, "
