Hamilton's hunt for glory? "It's good for Lewis and good for Formula One"
As Lewis Hamilton edges closer to Michael Schumacher's record, Alain Prost has insisted that his hunt for glory is very much good for the sport and he's confident the Brit is in the best place to achieve this.
Hamilton secured P2 at the United States Grand Prix, which was enough to finally complete the inevitable and wrap up a sixth Formula 1 World Championship. Since 2014 Hamilton has won five of the last six editions, with the only blemish on his career the controversial 2016 season which was won by Nico Rosberg.
Prost himself knows what it is like to be a multiple-time World Champion and he believes Hamilton's pursuit of Schumacher's record is good for the sport.
"It's good for Lewis and good for Formula One," Prost told Motorsport-Total.com.
"I do not know from my own experience what it's like to be a six-time World Champion, but if you've won two, three, four titles, what's your next goal? What motivates you? Sometimes your motivation can subside a bit.
"The good thing about Lewis is that he has a goal, and he has a place in the best team with the best car, so it'll be interesting to see what he achieves."
