Verstappen aims to work "even harder" in 2020
- Tom Mason
Max Verstappen is enduring a largely positive season but he knows he will need to work much harder if he is to achieve his goal of becoming an F1 champion.
The 22-year-old could still finish as high as third in this season's drivers' championship and holds an eleven point advantage over Charles Leclerc going into the final race of the season.
"Of course, I want to be world champion, but many drivers want it too. After that, I do not care if I'm the youngest to become a world champion or not. " Verstappen told Auto Bild.
"What I know is that it will be my goal next year and that I will continue to work even harder to achieve it."
The Dutchman is well behind Mercedes at present, but if improvements can be made in the winter then there is every chance he can push them closer next season.
