Webber expects Hamilton to pull through in 2020
2019 was another dominant season for Lewis Hamilton as he secured his biggest ever title-winning points tally. Mark Webber believes he will win a seventh World Championship, but there is cause for optimism for Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton scored 413 points, winning 11 races including six of the first eight races as he romped to a sixth World Championship moving him to just one behind Michael Schumacher's record of seven titles. Ferrari meanwhile struggled in the opening half of the season failing to win any race until the Belgian Grand Prix, their season plagued by team controversies.
Webber expects Hamilton to succeed once again next season but feels Ferrari have a chance in the Constructors' Championship.
“Provided Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel manage to score at least regularly," Webber wrote in a column for the Formule 1 magazine.
"For the constructors' championship, it may look good for Ferrari, though I think Lewis will still show his superiority in the drivers' classification for a whole season.
"We don't even have to talk about Verstappen anymore. He is now an established name and is on fire! I look forward to seeing if 2020 can see if Hamilton can match the seven world titles of Michael Schumacher while he has to deal with Leclerc and Verstappen."
