Ticktum signs for Williams as a development driver
Williams have confirmed that Dan Ticktum will join their Racing Driver Academy as a development driver. This comes after the Brit was given a seat with DAMS in Formula 2.
Ticktum may only be 20 but his motorsport career has been a controversial one. He was a two-time Macau Grand Prix winner and was competing in Super Formula, as part of his Red Bull Junior programme. However, he was dropped by Team Mugen and subsequently lost his Red Bull backing.
Earlier this year he was confirmed to race for DAMS in Formula 2 and he has now been afforded an opportunity at F1 outfit, Williams.
In a statement Ticktum expressed his delight at the opportunity and looked forward to getting started.
“It is a privilege to be joining the Williams Racing Driver Academy, especially given Williams’ incredible heritage in our sport," Ticktum said.
"The time in the simulator and experience working with the team will prove invaluable for my development. Being fully integrated into the operations will be a fantastic opportunity and I look forward to assisting wherever I can.”
