Andreas Seidl is "convinced" Sainz and Norris can be top drivers
Andreas Seidl says that his drivers have the potential to be top class in the future following an impressive season with McLaren. Carlos Sainz moved to the team for 2019 and he was joined by rookie Carlos Sainz, and they formed a great partnership straight away, both on and off the track.
Sainz had by far his best season in F1, finishing sixth in the drivers' standings and claiming his maiden podium finish in Brazil, charging from the back of the grid to P3 following a post-race penalty for Lewis Hamilton.
Norris couldn't match his teammate's incredible points scoring but still showed his ability in a strong first year in F1.
Seidl said in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport: "From what I've seen of the two so far, I'm convinced that they have the potential to be top drivers.
"Now it is important that we give them a car that they can drive ahead and grow with us. Then they have to show that they are winning drivers. At the moment there is no reason to doubt them."
