Wolff agrees with Vettel: DAS won't give much as "overall package is crucial"
Toto Wolff says DAS won't give much advantage when used on the Formula 1 track. Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton revealed the innovation during pre-season testing when they were pulling and pushing the steering wheel forwards and backwards.
The dual-axis steering system raised many eyebrows up and down the pitlane. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel commented that it won't give Mercedes much advantage at it isn't worth looking at for Ferrari as it's "not the ticket" for the world championship. Toto Wolff said something similar.
Playing down the system
"We don't want to reveal too much about it yet, but whoever thinks it will give us two seconds is wrong," he told Bild am Sonntag newspaper.
"It is one of many innovations on the new car. Ultimately, it is the overall package that is crucial."
