Barrichello: "Hamilton is a better driver than Alonso"
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton, with his six world titles, is after Michael Schumacher the most successful Formula 1 driver ever. Fernando Alonso, a very talented driver, came no further than two titles. That doesn't mean he is directly subordinate to the Brit, as the material plays a very important role. But when former Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello has to make a choice, he goes for the six-time champion.
Qualities
The Brazilian also explains his choice, writes Motorsport.com. "I think Hamilton's qualities make him better than Alonso, all his qualities, especially because he fought with Alonso at an early stage of his career. Today Hamilton is better than Alonso", but that doesn't mean that the Spaniard has inferior qualities.
"I think that Alonso has the qualities of being able to drive a good car in different ways and be the best", but he doesn't always make it. For example, in 2010, 2012 and 2013 he came second behind Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull. Barrichello: "When he came to Ferrari there were many challenges, he lost and he began to talk which made the situation very strange".
After his years at Ferrari, Alonso moved to McLaren, a team that has traditionally been successful in Formula 1. The bad luck was that things were getting worse with McLaren, which made Alonso decide to stop in Formula 1 at the end of 2018.
