The Austrian Grand Prix is supposed to be the first major sporting event in the world, but it all takes some effort. A quick calculation shows that soon there will be about 1000 to 1500 men on the circuit. Helmut Marko wants the Formula 2, Formula 3 and Porsche Supercup to drive in Spielberg at the beginning of July.

The Formula 1 teams will have to take some 50 employees to the Red Bull Ring, but there will also be some 150 marshalls, the FIA management, the Red Cross and the fire brigade and staff for international TV broadcasts.

"The Formula 2, Formula 3 and Porsche Supercup should be part of the weekend," Marko told Motorsport-Total.com. The 76-year old Austrian calls his point of view 'a message for the sport'. These classes are a lot less relevant and also play a subordinate role economically, but still Marko wants to see racing.

Super license has to be earned

According to Marko, that's a necessity. "How else should you judge if you should consider someone for Formula 1 next year? Moreover, the young drivers need the points and results to obtain the super license. Otherwise the flow will come to a standstill," concludes the man from Graz, who acts as an advisor to Red Bull Racing.
