Out of respect for employer, Gasly does not discuss problems at Red Bull Racing

Pierre Gasly went through a very difficult period at Red Bull Racing at the beginning of 2019. Not only was the Frenchman much slower than teammate Max Verstappen, he also had to beat the McLarens in some races. Reason for Red Bull to replace him halfway through the season with Alexander Albon. Yet Gasly remains loyal to his employer.
Gasly says he reads the many criticisms of his performance last year on social media, among others, but does not allow himself to be sidetracked by them. He says that at the time there were good reasons why he didn't succeed at Red Bull Racing, but out of respect for his employer he doesn't want to talk about it.
"There are different reasons which explain why it worked there and we had a good end of the year. Some of the reasons have been said, some haven’t, but unfortunately people have their own judgements and I accept it," says the driver from AlphaTauri to RACER.com.
“I’m a Red Bull-contracted driver, and it’s also thanks to them they brought me into Formula 1. What happened in those six months doesn’t change the relationship and what they’ve done for me. We’ve spoken about the things that didn’t go well, but then it’s not up to me to come into the media and say ‘This wasn’t right and this was wrong’. It’s not the right thing to do, and that’s why I don’t do it."
