More sources report that Sainz will drive at Ferrari next season
- GPblog.com
After Marca had already reported that Carlos Sainz is likely to make a move to Ferrari, more sources report that next week more will be announced about the move of the Spaniard to the Italian team. According to Motorsport.com there are several sources that indicate that this Thursday it will already be announced that Charles Leclerc will have the current driver of McLaren as a teammate next season.
For a long time the name of Sainz has been around at Ferrari. Due to the non-renewal of Sebastian Vettel's contract, there were more and more rumors that Sainz goes to Ferrari. Yet it seemed a time that Daniel Ricciardo was also in the fight for Ferrari's second seat, but several sources now report that Ricciardo is in talks with McLaren.
Who will drive at McLaren?
The Australian will take the place of Sainz at McLaren and then get Lando Norris as a teammate. It seems that McLaren will at least have to look for a new driver, because the deal with Ferrari already seems to be complete. Motorsport.com expects more clarity about the seat next to Leclerc next Thursday.
Although Ricciardo's name is now often linked to McLaren, he is not the only driver. Vettel is of course without a seat for 2021, so will also be looking for a new team. In any case, it is clear that more will soon be announced about who will drive for Ferrari next season.
