Ricciardo's going to Mclaren? "He's already signed a contract"
- GPblog.com
After more sources expect Carlos Sainz to sign for Ferrari in the next few days, rumors are increasing that Daniel Ricciardo is going to take Sainz's spot at McLaren. Formula 1 journalist Leo Turrini even thinks to know that Ricciardo has already made a deal with McLaren and that it is only a matter of time before it is officially announced.
Turrini informs the Italian radio station Radio 24 that Ricciardo has probably already signed a contract with McLaren. "It looks like he's already signed with McLaren". While Sainz is going to make the likely switch to Ferrari, Ricciardo plans to join McLaren and Lando Norris.
Vettel to Renault?
Because Ricciardo is going to make the switch to McLaren, there will be a place available at Renault. This could be filled in different ways. Sebastian Vettel seems to be one of the top candidates to fill in the spot next to Esteban Ocon, because with Vettel's experience the French team could build on its future.
However, the team also has a junior programme in which several drivers are being prepared for the transition to F1. Guanyu Zhou seems to be one of the most important candidates, as he will be driving his second season in Formula 2 next season. At least in 2021 Ricciardo doesn't seem to drive for Renault anymore, but for the orange McLaren.
