"I expect the most from Leclerc, but you have to keep an eye on Verstappen

In 2019 we saw at times already a glimpse of the future battles between Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. Now that Sebastian Vettel has been sidelined and the years are starting to count for Lewis Hamilton, that generation is really taking over the sport. With the previous generation Hamilton turned out to be the best, who will it be for the next ten years?
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Giancarlo Minardi looks ahead to the coming years of the sport, in which he has especially high expectations of the new regulations for 2022. They should make the sport really attractive again. However, the drivers will continue to be the tastemakers. The question is who will eventually emerge as the great champion.
"Of course I don't expect more from anyone than Leclerc," says the former team owner. "But I also have no choice but to focus on Max Verstappen. But keep an eye on Esteban Ocon, he too has everything he needs to be amazed".
For next season, however, Minardi expects Lewis Hamilton to still be the man to beat. Since the regulations remain unchanged, he will still have one of the best cars at his disposal. But he does have a comment to make. Because of the shortened season a surprise is always possible.
