With effect from 2021, the name Aston Martin will definitively disappear from Red Bull Racing and move to the current Racing Point. The team will rebranded as Aston Martin F1 Team from next year onwards and for the time being it looks like the two current drivers will continue to form the lineup. This is what team boss Otmar Szafnauer says in a press release from Racing Point.

Headline

With several shifts of drivers in recent weeks, Racing Point has remained very quiet. However, with the moving market there is speculation, but Racing Point will not change drivers for the time being. In other words: Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll will continue to be the drivers' duo in 2021, and Stroll shouldn't come as a surprise.

Szafnauer: "It’s certainly been an interesting few weeks in the driver market, with some headline-grabbing moves out there. I’m sure it’s kept the fans entertained and the media busy – but from our perspective, the headline for next season is the name above the factory doors rather than the names in the cockpit."

Financial changes

Now that the teams and Formula 1 have agreed that they will work with a budget cap from 2021, it looks very good for Racing Point. The team is satisfied with the outcome of all talks and discussions. "I believe the decisions we’ve reached as a collective between the teams, Formula 1 and the FIA have put the necessary processes in place to make the sport more financially sustainable."

"These new financial rules give every team a more equal shot at achieving their potential and that can only be a positive thing for the sport. The future looks bright and our absolute aim is to be at the very sharp end of that future," said the team boss of Racing Point.
