Franz Tost: "Yet he stood up well at Red Bull"

Franz Tost is still confident in Daniil Kvyat. The Russian driver has been driving in Formula 1 since 2014, except for one year, and has learned a lot in recent years.
Short Red Bull period
Kvyat, like his teammate at AlphaTauri Pierre Gasly, was promoted early on in his F1 career from Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing. As with the Frenchman, Kvyat's Red Bull period was short. After one season and four races the Russian was pushed aside for Max Verstappen.
"Still, he held up well at Red Bull", said Franz Tost in the Delta Time podcast of Formel Austria. "That he came back to us quickly was also due to the circumstances."
Class skipped
"You must remember that when Daniil went to Red Bull, he'd only driven one year in Formula 1. That's very little, and he also came out of the GP3, which of course is one class down", Tost said. Kvyat skipped the Formula 2 class in its entirety.
"Unfortunately Daniil also had some mistakes and setbacks at Red Bull. That is also due to the fact that he didn't have the experience you need to perform when you're on an absolutely top team fighting for the title", Tost ends.
