'No qualifying in Austria because of the rain, Seidl ticks importance VT2'

The second free practice for the Styrian Grand Prix could well be more important than expected. According to Andreas Seidl it could be that qualification on Saturday will not take place.
The weather forecasts already showed it, but according to Formula 1 journalist Adam Cooper, Andreas Seidl says Seidl confirms it would be so wet on Saturday that there will be no qualifying at all. This makes the second free practice session suddenly essential, because those times count if there is no driving on Saturday.
No qualifying
''We have already collected information from the race director, which gives us a kind of warning that there is a risk that there will be no session tomorrow due to thunderstorms or heavy rain, if that were to happen there would be a qualifying session on Sunday morning or in the worst case if that is not possible because the weather could still be bad for VT2, this would count as a qualifying result. That's something we have to monitor today and we have to figure out how to deal with that," said the team boss of McLaren.
It will give a special twist to Friday which was not considered so important beforehand. After a whole weekend in Austria there is still little data to collect for the teams and the temperature is much higher than the rest of the weekend. However, things could be different now.
