Marko: "Fundamental problem" holding Red Bull Racing back
Red Bull Racing were slow in qualifying at the Hungarian Grand Prix and the car looked very difficult to drive. It was a problem the team saw coming on Friday, as it worked all night, but with little success. Helmut Marko can now see how the problems have impacted the team and the realism of how far behind they are.
"We've made a huge amount of adjustments in one night, and yet there are always aerodynamic things we don't understand that make it impossible for the drivers to get a competitive lap time. We're losing almost half a second in both sectors two and three. Especially the gap of 1.4 seconds to Mercedes is amazing."
A fundamental problem for Red Bull Racing
Because the season this year is so short and the races follow each other week in week out, there is little chance to really improve the car for the next Grand Prix. The whole circus now has a weekend off after the race and Red Bull Racing will have to make the best possible use of it if they are to speed up.
"We are puzzling to find a solution to what seems to be a fundamental problem in the short time available to Silverstone. We don't have to dream of a victory or a podium. But there are rain showers coming. This could be an opportunity to improve a little," said the Austrian to Sky Sports.
