Marko wants to copy Racing Point idea: ''That would save us a lot of money''

Racing Point has been under fire since the winter tests because the car was said to be a copy of the Mercedes. Helmut Marko has no problems with the copy and now even wants to take over with AlphaTauri.
B-teams
Racing Point caused a stir during the winter tests in Barcelona. The team was soon renamed the 'pink Mercedes' because from an aerodynamic perspective it looked like a copy of the 2019 Mercedes. Racing Point itself openly admitted having used photographs for their designs, but firmly denies having received any information from Mercedes.
Marko, as a top man at Red Bull, has two teams in Formula 1; Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri. That second team is seen as a stepping stone for the talents towards the top of Red Bull training and could benefit if the work of Racing Point turns out to be legal. Marko is very curious about that.
Marko also wants a copied car
''I don't mind if I'm allowed to do that. Then we'll do the same at AlphaTauri and save a lot of money. The fact that this has been kept secret is what worries me. However, if it is approved, I fully support it'', says Marko in conversation with the Kronen Zeitung.
What might be a nice outcome for Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing might be disappointing for McLaren and Renault. ''We have almost four Red Bull's on the track and for teams like Renault and McLaren that don't have a B-team that's a big problem'', concludes the Austrian.
