Szafnauer had to get Hulkenberg ready in record time: "It wasn't that hard"

Otmar Szafnauer had to find a replacement for the coronavirus infected driver Sergio Perez in a hurry. The team boss of Racing Point chose Nico Hulkenberg, who was eager to make his comeback in the king's class.
"We had a lot to do in a very short time. We received the final result from Sergio yesterday at 14:20. From that moment on we had to find Hülkenberg and get him to do the same - it wasn't that difficult. I think he was ready for it. We had to take him to England and then go through the process to make sure he didn't have the virus," said the team boss in conversation with Sky.
Super license
"We also had to give him a super license, which is not so easy because you need a contract, which in turn has to be approved by the Contract Recognition Board. At the same time, we had to explain a lot about the car to him," says Szafnauer. In the morning Hülkenberg had already spent 45 minutes in the simulator to get used to the RP20.
