Red Bull team boss Christian Horner is still convinced that his team and Max Verstappen can take on the challenge with the dominant Mercedes, he acknowledged at the team press conference. To the question whether he is afraid that Verstappen will leave in the absence of a result, he gives an evasive answer.

"We know Mercedes is the target we're aiming for. And they're doing a great job, they've got a great package of car and engine. They set the bar high. We have to take on that challenge. Everyone at Red Bull and Honda is very motivated to do that. Especially Max is. It is not easy, because Formula 1 is not easy. I believe in our people and that in the end we can take up the challenge with Mercedes. In 2022 there will of course be new rules, but there are still plenty of opportunities for that".

Hamilton

In the first free practice session of the British Grand Prix Verstappen was more than four tenths ahead of his big competitor in battle for the world title. On the World Championship ranking it is Lewis Hamilton who does the service. With 33 points ahead of Verstappen, he is now thirty points behind the front runner.
