Hülkenberg: "I'll feel it in my body tomorrow or the day after tomorrow!"
Nico Hülkenberg is filling in for Sergio Perez at Racing Point this weekend, because the Mexican has tested positive for coronavirus. It was a bizarre 24 hours says the German, but he is happy to get the chance to race during the British GP.
It was a special day for Hülkenberg who was allowed to step into Racing Point out of nowhere, which used to be a Force India and has 'the Hulk' history with it. He drove for the team in the past.
“Seat fitted until 2 am tonight. 8 am this morning in the simulator for an hour. But all worth while. Great effort by the team, i want to thank the team and the night shift guys to fit me in the car and quite comfortably. and thanks to the FIA for the superlicense. So it’s been very special.” says Hülkenberg at Sky Sports F1.
Hülkenberg still in good condition
Asked about the simulator work, Hülkenberg says: “Simulator is simulator. I got the grips very quickly with things. It’s just to get used to the steering wheel a bit and the functions. We didn’t have heaps of time since I had to be tested as well. But the real deal obviously today. We got the programme in".
"I think my body will feel that tomorrow or the day after. It’s obviously a huge challenge, but I’m not shy of that one.”
