Final starting grid second GP Silverstone: Verstappen on the hunt for Mercedes
- GPblog.com
Today the F1 drivers will be on the starting grid for the second time this season for a Grand Prix at Silverstone. Last weekend the final phase of the race was clearly the most exciting part of the Grand Prix and this week there are some changes that should make the Grand Prix even more fun. There are softer tyres and Max Verstappen is the only one in the top ten with an alternative strategy.
At the front of the grid, it is clear who is standing where. The two Mercedes drivers are again on the front row of the grid. Valtteri Bottas will start on pole position, with Lewis Hamilton next to him in second place. Behind the two Mercedes drivers, it will be a lot more exciting with Nico Hulkenberg and Verstappen on the second row of the grid. The question is to what extent Verstappen can stay close to Mercedes in the opening phase of the race.
Albon and Vettel disappoint
Outside the top four, it is clear that midfield is very close together because the field is very different. Surprises are Alex Albon on P9 and Sebastian Vettel in eleventh place. Both drivers had hoped for a better result in qualifying. They will be looking for a good start, which will take place at 14:10 UK time.
