Does Gasly have to go back to Red Bull Racing? "I'm not thinking about that''
- GPblog.com
Pierre Gasly returned from Red Bull Racing to AlphaTauri a year ago. The Frenchman took it well and has managed to get good results with his new-old team. Does that give Gasly fresh optimism now that Alexander Albon is underperforming?
Who should sit next to Verstappen?
Nothing has changed in a year. Max Verstappen is still the leader at Red Bull Racing and leaves his teammate behind with ease. In qualifying the difference is huge and in the race he has lapped his teammate. Where as a year ago Gasly was put back for this reason, Albon is still in that number two position.
''I haven't thought about going back to Red Bull and it's not something I want to spend a lot of time on. I want to be competitive in the AlphaTauri, because that will give me opportunities in the future. I'm watching the weekend by weekend and hopefully that will pay off in the end, but it's too early to speculate about that now," said Gasly to RaceFans.net.
Gasly knows speed from Albon
Albon however now falls through the basket and so there are noises that Gasly should replace him again. The Frenchman doesn't want to think about this yet. ''We've done well and were even ahead of him in a few qualifying sessions, but that's not a priority for me'', says Gasly who was indeed faster than Albon on Saturday in Hungary and both races at Silverstone.
''Paying attention to that is not going to make me faster, so I'm not going to worry about that any more. I know Alex is fast, he's been fast in the past too, so I have no idea what's going on. In any case it's clear that it's not that easy for him'," the Frenchman concluded.
