Lammers sees different options: ''Consider racing without an audience''

On Wednesday the Circuit of Zandvoort announced its new name. CM.com Circuit Zandvoort was not a huge innovation, but it does help the circuit forward. We are also looking at next season and the possible options for the Dutch Grand Prix.

''It's a logical choice for us to continue working with CM.com. They were already a partner, of course, and we noticed that we have the same DNA'', says Robert van Overdijk to RTL. Allard Kalff then asks about the circuit. Many people wondered whether Zandvoort would have finished all this in time without the coronavirus.
''In the end it would have been finished on time on the 3rd of May, because the FIA has also been continuously involved in our process. However, when the GP wouldn't go ahead we took our foot off the accelerator for a moment, but otherwise the circuit would have looked fantastic for the race'', says the circuit director.
Race without an audience?
After two months of being closed in Zandvoort, it is now completely open to the public again and is heading into the future with a positive feeling. According to sports director Jan Lammers, safety on the track has also improved and with the new medical centre and control room there is nothing missing on the circuit of Zandvoort.
Lammers says when Kalff asks him if Zandvoort could be a season opener for Formula 1. ''As it is now, this is possible and hopefully the medical staff will allow us to make it a big party again. Otherwise we'd rather have it later in the year or we'll have to consider doing it without an audience. But we are not thinking about that now'', concludes the former Formula 1 driver.
