Damage to Ricciardo engine? "As far as I know not"
Daniel Ricciardo managed to surprise everyone with p2 during the second free practice session in Belgium. The Renault was faster than both Mercedes and, more importantly, faster than Racing Point. Cyril Abiteboul wants to make the most of this weekend to make up some points.
"Friday and Saturday is not representative of Sunday, it is Sunday that determines. It is always good to see that we are making progress, especially compared to Barcelona. It's looking good on circuits with little downward pressure now," said the Renault team boss in front of the Sky Sports camera.
No major technical problems for Ricciardo
Still, FP2 "It's a pity that the long run was broken by the hydraulic problem, but as far as I know it didn't cause any damage to the gearbox and engine."
It is to be hoped for Abiteboul, as this is an important weekend for Renault. "The midfield is so exciting that every detail affects performance over a weekend. I think we've got a car that's out of midfield on the tracks with little downforce, so hopefully we can take advantage of that this weekend and at Monza."
