Verstappen does not expect to be able to fight pole position
During the first free practice Max Verstappen was still right behind both Mercedes drivers, but in the second free practice he was the fastest of everyone. However, the margins are small and the Red Bull Racing driver thinks Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas can still find some speed for tomorrow.
"It's still early to say anything about it, but from our side this was a good start," says Verstappen to Sky Sports on Friday afternoon. "There are still some things we need to work on for tomorrow, but overall I am very satisfied."
Racing Point no danger during the race
According to him, the fact that Verstappen is faster than Mercedes doesn't say everything at the moment. "I think they still have some problems with the balance, so I expect them to be strong tomorrow. You can also see that they are very fast in the long runs. I don't expect to fight for pole position, but I hope to be close to them."
Racing Point are also doing well again, but Verstappen has always said they are not a danger in the race. He's going to stay behind that now. "I think they will be very close, so it will be difficult for them in qualifying, but it should be good in the race."
