Ferrari loses a lot of time compared to last year in Belgium
- GPblog.com
It has been clear for some time now that things are not going as well as the team had hoped at Ferrari. But after the second free practice session at Spa-Francorchamps, the team is once again confronted with the facts. By far, Ferrari are the only team to have lost a lot of time compared to 2019.
Bad start to the season
Ferrari has been behind the times throughout the season. Where in 2019 it was still able to fight for victory in a number of Grands Prix, it is now hoping for mistakes from its opponents, which will allow the Scuderia to achieve a podium place with some luck.
Charles Leclerc came second in the very first race after the failure of both Red Bull Racing drivers and the five-second penalty of Lewis Hamilton. At the British GP, the Monegasque managed to finish third after Valtteri Bottas suffered a tyre blowout in the penultimate lap.
Time loss in Belgium
In Belgium, however, the team is once again forced to face the facts. It is the only team that did not gain any time in the second free practice. The Italian team lost no less than 1.317 seconds on the fastest lap of 2019. It is clear that Ferrari is in deep trouble in 2020.
