Horner: "And that’s where the difference is exaggerated between the two drivers"

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner says that the RB16's behaviour at low fuel levels during qualifying exaggerates the difference between drivers. Max Verstappen generally qualifies much better than his team mate Alexander Albon.
Excessive difference
Albon is this year often half a second slower than Verstappen in qualifying. According to Horner, Albon is proving its potential by putting in a lot of good performances during the races. "Alex's feedback is actually very, very strong", says Horner to RaceFans.net. "His work ethic is very high."
"I think as we improve the car for Alex it will naturally improve for Max as well. The car is actually very difficult to drive particularly on low fuel at the moment. And that’s where the difference is exaggerated between the two drivers, Horner continues.
Albon is going to show even more
According to Horner, Albon is a lot closer to Verstappen at racing pace than he is in qualifying. "On race pace obviously Alex is quite a bit closer and he’s driven some great races this year. So I think hopefully as we improve the car the drivers will also converge."
"You’ve got to remember Alex has only done a year and a half of Formula 1 racing, not even that. So I’m confident that there’s a lot more to come from him", Horner concludes.
