Carlos Sainz could be looking at Ferrari doubting his decision to join the team next season. The Italian top team has dropped out of point positions and does not seem to be a champion candidate for 2021 either.

Ferrari not as good as hoped

Sainz has agreed to join the Scuderia from McLaren, when Sebastian Vettel leaves the team at the end of the season. However, Ferrari's fortunes have taken a turn for the worst and now sit outside the points and are far from being race contenders.

''I am very comfortable with the decision I made. I have 100% confidence in the people at Ferrari and what they can do in the future. Let us not forget last year, where they were on pole seven times. So it's a team that knows how to build a car,'' Sainz said to Formula1.com.

Sainz is not worried

What Sainz is forgetting is the FIA statement at the end of 2019. Indeed, the clarification of the engine directive has meant that Ferrari have fallen back a long way. However, that is not what Sainz is concerned about.

''I am nervous about all my downturns, but not about the future at Ferrari. I can't wait to see the enthusiasm of the Tifosi. They will give me good energy and this weekend that feeling is already starting to tickle. I don't think there is a bad time to go to Ferrari. It is a special place for a Formula 1 driver. Give me that option another 100 times and I'll say yes every time."
